Obituary for June Edith Reynolds

Longtime Alaskan and Anchor Point resident June Edith Reynolds, 81, passed away Friday, Aug. 24, 2018 at home from cancer.
A celebration of her life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Homer Independent Baptist Church with Pastor Jake Gerasimof officiating. She was laid to rest in a private ceremony at the Anchor Point Cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard Reynolds, Bill Fields, Paul McBride, Ennis Dixon, Russell Smith and Lee Burkhardt.
June was born May 21, 1937 in New Britain, Conn. She graduated high school, real estate classes and then nursing school, where she became an LPN. She moved to Alaska in 1969 and lived in Anchorage. She worked at Marston Real Estate from 1972-78. She then was the proprietor at the Bible Bookstore in Palmer from 1978-82. She was also a partner at Highlight Homes from 1975-82. She then worked at A.B.T. Bookstore from 1982-84. She then worked as a nurse at Long Term Care at South Peninsula Hospital until 1989. Then she moved to South Florida to help take care of her mother where she worked at a South Florida Hospital and doctor’s offices until retiring in 1999 from Dr. Mazzi. She returned to Alaska in 2003 and lived in Anchor Point ever since.
June was a member of the Homer Independent Baptist Church. She enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, sewing, reading, caring for her husband and children and serving the Lord.
Her husband wrote, “June was a dedicated wife, mother, friend and coworker with a zest for life in everything she did. Her priority was serving our Lord Jesus Christ and tried to live her life to please Him. She had a sweet loving disposition with a strong sense of right and wrong. She also could be very feisty when rubbed the wrong way. She and her husband, Art, were seldom apart. Not only were they married, but they were best friends. She set a good example and inspired all who knew her.”
June was preceded in death by her mother, Edith and her father, Louis Beck.
She is survived by her husband, Art of Anchor Point; daughter, Lori of Port St. Lucy, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Natasha; and granddaughter, Lucy, all of Anchor Point; and a sister, Phyllis of Oregon.
Memorial donation may be sent to Hospice of Homer, 265 E. Pioneer Ave., #3, Homer, AK 99603.
Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
