Obituary for William Gene "Bill" Wilson

Longtime Alaskan William Gene "Bill" Wilson, 88, passed away Wednesday, Dec.
13, 2017 at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna.

No services are planned at this time.

Bill was born Apr. 29, 1929 in Good Hope, Hocking County, Ohio. He
graduated from Berne-Union High School in Sugar Grove, Ohio in 1947. He
served in the Armed Forces from Jan. 12, 1952-Dec. 10, 1953 and then
transferred to the Army Reserve. There, he completed 8 years under the
Universal Military and Service Act. He was honorably discharged in Jan.

Bill worked as a meat cutter in Denver, Colo. and Tucson, Ariz. He moved to
Anchorage in 1983 and worked for Carrs Grocery until retiring in 1991. He
then moved to Clam Gulch and lived there until moving to Kenai in 2016.
Bill loved to go camping, fishing and hunting. He had a boat and spent many
summers on the Kasilof and Kenai Rivers and halibut fishing in Deep Creek.
"Bill was a very quiet and gentle father with a loving smile. He was
patient with his daughter, Vickey. My favorite memories are weekends
fishing at the lake. We would spend all day with our rods in the water
patiently waiting for a bite." his daughter, Vickey said.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie A. and Luetta (Ridenour)
Wilson, wife, Delpha I. Wilson and a brother, Richard Wilson.

He is survived by his daughter, Vickey Kathleen Bare and husband, Ted, of
Johnsontown, Ohio; granddaughters, Tedra Ruth Bare of Gahanna, Ohio, Angela
Taylor of Upper Arlington, Ohio, and Patricia Russell and husband, Chad, of
New Albany, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Cassondra, Katelyn, Kylee, Christian,
Caden and Cali; stepson, Charles E. Fisher and wife, Moon of Windermere,
Fla.; grandsons, Cameron Fisher, Van Fisher and Ian Fisher; and a brother,
Ronald A. Wilson of Hideaway Hills, Ohio.

Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
