Obituary for Steven Roger Hoebelheinrich

Soldotna resident, Dr. Steven Roger Hoebelheinrich, 65, died Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at his home in Soldotna with his family by his side.

A Celebration of his life was held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Central Peninsula Hospital in The Denali Room.

Roger was born Sept. 16, 1953 in Osmond, Nebraska. He graduated from Crofton High School and later graduated from The University of Nebraska with a bachelor’s degree in science and a degree in Medicine. In 2006 he moved to Alaska living in Soldotna. He had a private practice as a general surgeon who was affiliated with Central Peninsula Hospital and the Surgery Center of Kenai.

The family wrote, “Roger was a loving father and grandfather, devoted husband, and skilled surgeon. He was well loved and respected in his communities for his patience, calmness, kindness, and compassionate nature. The youngest of 5 children from a small farm in Nebraska, he worked hard and persevered to accomplish his goal of becoming a surgeon. When he was not serving in the medical community, he could be found fishing, traveling, hunting, or laughing with friends and family. He leaves behind a lifetime of treasured memories and a legacy that will last forever.”

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmelita (Tramp) and Severin Hoebelheinrich.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Hoebelheinrich of Soldotna; children, Ryan (Miriam) Hoebelheinrich and their children Jackson, Sam, Olivia and Claire all of Chesterfield, VA, Leah Todd and her two children, Mackenzi and Carson all of Kill Devil Hills, NC, Jeffrey (Mallory) Hoebelheinrich and their child Finley all of Jacksonville, Florida and Michael Hoebelheinrich of Honolulu, Hawaii; sisters, Kay Goeden of Tujuga, CA, Del Rae Meridith of Selmar, CA and JoAnn Woockman of Hartington, NE; and brother, Ronnie Hoebelheinrich of Bloomfield, NE; daughter in-law, Kodi Bangerter and her children, Tatiana, Lineni, Alaska, Patience, Cai-ron, Zander, and Aspen.
