Obituary for John "Mike" Gorzek

Longtime Alaskan and Anchor Point resident. Mr. John “Mike” Gorzek, 69, died Thursday, June 20, 2019 at his home in Anchor Point with his wife by his side.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019 at his home located at 35760 Old Sterling Hwy – Anchor Point. His cremated remains will be scattered off a Tugboat “Augustine” in the Kachemak Bay on the same day as the service.
Mike was born May 6, 1950 in Morgan Town, West Virginia. He graduated high school, attended some college and served in the U.S. Army. In 1980 he moved to Anchorage where he lived before moving to Homer and finally Anchor Point. Mike was a Tugboat Engineer for Cook Inlet Marine from which he retired from in 2016. He loved fishing and gold panning. Mikes favorite saying was: “Deal Be Is.”
He is survived by his wife, Jan Gorzek Knight of Anchor Point; daughters, Chazz Gorzek of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Cynthia Thorpe of Tulsa, Oklahoma and granddaughter, Morgan Anderson of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
