Longtime Alaskan, Mary Roberta Brickhouse, 74, passed away Friday, August 31, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer at her home in Chugiak.

A celebration of Bobbi’s life will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Anchorage Funeral Home, 1800 Dare Ave. in Anchorage. Rev. Ron Martinsen will officiate. Bobbi’s ashes will be placed with her family in the East Glacier Park in Montana at a later date.

Known to many as “Bobbi” she was born the eldest of five children on October 23, 1937 to Robert & Mary Bensen in St. Paul, MN. The family lived in East Glacier Park, Montana and Seattle, WA where she graduated from Lincoln High School in 1955. The family moved to Alaska in 1959. Bobbi worked for civil service on Elmendorf AFB retiring in 1988. For many years she enjoyed her years being involved as a home interiors representative. In recent years she worked as a bailiff for the Alaska Court System. Bobbi had a generous nature and found great joy in giving freely to others. She always kept a drawer full of candy for her great nephews and great nieces to the dismay of their parents. Her family and friends will always have wonderful memories to fill their hearts. Bobbi enjoyed painting watercolors, pastels and ceramics.

Bobbi was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Brickhouse; sister and brother in-law, Barbara and Jack Wood; brother, John Bensen; parents, Mary Grace and Robert Roy Bensen.

She is survived by her daughter & son in-law, Paula and David Lee of Washougal, WA; son and daughter in-law, Bob and Traci Brickhouse of Anchorage, AK; sister and brother in-law, Molly and David Bell of Eagle River, AK; brother and sister in-law, Mike and Marla Bensen of Chugiak, AK; sister in-law, Marilyn Bensen of Sedro Wooley, WA; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
