Leslie E. Paneok was born September 16, 1940 to Leslie Paneok, Sr. and Lena H. Napouk in White Mountain, Alaska. Les was the youngest of his brothers, Aaron and Ralph Paneok and his sisters, Mildred M. Oyoumick and Norma J. Harvey. He graduated from Mt. Edgecumbe High School in 1958. His most memorable work was at YKHC as the Supervisor of the cafeteria for many years. He had such a strong character, people still mention today, “He was my best boss!” also, “My number 1 cookie” says Emma Moses.

Les Paneok, a loving husband, brother, father and uncle to many nephews and nieces, our favorite cousin and our best friend. He loved fishing, hunting and berry picking. He went fishing every year – even in poor health. He went moose hunting every year when we lived in Bethel. His favorite time of the year was the berry picking season. There are so many good times and stories to go with every season.

Les was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie Paneok, Sr. and Lena Napouk; brothers, Aaron and Ralph Paneok; and sister, Norma Harvey.

He leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Mollie Paneok; sister, Mildred Oyoumick; daughter, Judy Sellens; and son, Peter Paneok. He also leaves behind many good relatives who love him; cousins, Gerald “Popsy” Napouk and his family, Tony Shoogukwruk and all of his children; niece, Eileen Bartholomew and her daughters and sons; he also leaves behind his best friends, and best friends still, Alexie Morris and Sam Moses, Sr., who has been so good to him; and many relatives and friends from up and down the Kuskokwin and White Mountain.
