Denton T. (Dan) Shelden, passed peacefully into his other life December 31, 2017 at CPGH after a struggle with pneumonia. His family was by his side.

He was born in Alzada, MT on November 22, 1935 to Louis H. and Etta (Richardson) Shelden. Denton grew up on a ranch outside of Hulett, WY, loving the outdoors and being in the woods logging timber. He was a talented guitar player and singer, always performing for a benefit when someone in the community needed a helping hand. Denton studied electronics and eventually moved his family to Gillette, WY and started his own business. He always wanted to come to Alaska, so he packed up his family and belongings and made the move up the Alcan Highway to Kenai in June 1973. He opened Dan’s TV Service which became Dan’s TV & Appliance. He endeavored into other businesses, but Dan’s TV was always his mainstay. He continued with his love for the outdoors by boating, fishing, hunting, and camping. In later years he added green-housing, gardening, woodworking, and cooking. Dan was community minded and helped projects move forward such as the Soldotna Sports Center. He enjoyed working with his customers and never turned one down if they needed a helping hand with credit.

Dan is survived by his wife Rosanna of 59 years, Children Shelia of Rapid City, Kathy (James) of Kenai, Scott(Nicole) of Kenai, Grandchildren Catherine(Brian), Miranda(Rich), Taylor, Zada, Anna, Daniel, Great-Grandchildren Evan, Owen, Ally, Lexy, Camrilynn, and Dawson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and a sister.

A celebration of his life was held while his family surrounded him. A special memorial will be held next summer at Kenai Lake. Dan was a kind, loving, very generous man, and a passionate husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed. His remains will be cremated and held until the passing of his wife and burial for both will take place together in Wyoming, where they both grew up, fell in love, and married.
